这种类型电影能获得奥斯卡，不是说奥斯卡很谜，我倒是认为它很包容。想不到美国五十年代大龄催婚和现代的中国如出一辙。这部电影保守内敛到与《乱世佳人》《飘》的爱情观相比简直不属于美国价值范畴之内，现实得令人感同身受，强烈共鸣。马蒂是一个34岁毫无成就的屠夫，电影开场直接被一个老婆婆重语侮辱，母亲也催婚很紧。马蒂在舞会遇到29岁高龄化学老师，很投缘，两人仅一次见面，由于不愿意和母亲同居，遭到母亲强烈反对，以及酒肉朋友的嫌弃。房子问题，婆媳问题竟然如此真实，老妈的市侩占有欲和存在感也是让人会心一笑。影片最后，愿意争取这段感情的马蒂侮辱了一番单身朋友，毅然决然的约会去了。果然到什么时候说什么话，马蒂最后一番言论虽是气话，但好感度减了一星。
